The history of the Potskhovi gorge, particularly study and thorough scientific research of the remained monuments is important not only for the history of Samtskhe but for the whole Georgia. Inevitability of this research is caused also by the circumstances that the monuments to be reviewed are on the territory of Turkey nowadays. Thus this may cause destruction of all the above mentioned monuments together with other important but already destroyed ones represented in the Potskhovi gorge sooner or later.
Due to the fact that our study area is frontier territory the research was and is still problematic. That is why gorge is less studied.
The aim of this research is to reveal thorough information about the monuments and the whole gorge as well.
